Prevention of Left Ventricular Aneurysm Formation in Acute Myocardial Infarction

چکیده
The effect of preexistent coronary collateral perfusion on the prevention of left ventricular aneurysm formation was examined in 47 patients undergoing an intracoronary thrombolysis within 6 hours after the onset of a first acute anterior myocardial infarction. Left ventricular aneurysm formation and wall motion were analyzed with cineventriculography. A left ventricular aneurysm was determined as well-defined demarcation of the infarcted segment from normally contracting myocardium. In 25 patients with successful thrombolysis (group A), a left ventricular aneurysm was observed in one patient (4%) during the chronic stage of infarction. In 10 patients who had a significant collateral circulation to the infarct-related coronary artery and unsuccessful reperfusion (group B), the left ventricular aneurysm was observed in only one patient (10%). In the remaining 12 patients with unsuccessful recanalization in the absence of

Management of a large coronary artery aneurysm with graft-coated stent during the acute phase of myocardial infarction
Coronary aneurysms in adults are rare clinical entities. Herein, we presented a 54-year-old man who was admitted with an acute extensive anterior myocardial infarction. The emergency coronary angiography revealed an isolated large aneurysm at the proximal segment of the left anterior descending coronary artery. The patient was successfully treated with a graft-coated stent

Technetium-99m-pyrophosphate (99mTc-PYP) has been used, in combination with thallium-201, to estimate the site and extent of myocardial infarcts. We report a case of acute myocardial infarction with severe coronary disease in which the distribution of 99mTc-PYP was extensive. A 78-year-old man presented with dyspnea, and a diagnosis of non-ST-segment elevation acute myocar...

To evaluate the prognostic significance of clinicopathological measurement in the diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (MI) in sheep, acute MI was induced by ligation of left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD). For this purpose, twenty four healthy sheep were divided into the sham-operated or control group (group I, thoracotomy without MI) and the experimental group (group II, with M...
متن کاملStratification for Embolization From Chronic Left Ventricular Thrombi
A rterial thromboembolization is a potentially catastrophic complication of acute anterior myocardial infarction, left ventricular aneurysm, and diffuse cardiomyopathy. Management of patients at risk of thromboembolization is directed at determining the potential benefit of anticoagulation in preventing embolization compared with the risk of bleeding complications from anticoagulation. In the a...
متن کاملStaphylococcal infection of a left ventricular aneurysm.
Left ventricular aneurysm formation is a common complication of myocardial infarction. Depending on the definition used, the incidence in survivors of acute myocardial infarction is between 4% and 40%, with mural thrombi present in about half of all aneurysms. Infection of these thrombi at times of bacteraemia might be expected to occur quite commonly but has been described only occasionally. W...
